Judith Wackerlig studied Chemistry at the University of Vienna. In 2009 she obtained her diploma degree in Analytical Chemistry at the Department of Chemical Sensors and optical Molecular Spectroscopy. She was involved in the European Project Nanosecure developing a highly sensitive and selective sensor for chemical warfare agents. A mass-sensitive sensor using molecularly imprinted polymers as selective layer combined with a pre-concentrator unit was developed. She continued her studies in the field of Sensors and Rapid Analysis joining the European Project Photosens. During her doctoral studies she developed a mass-producible sensor for NSAIDs for potential use in pharmaceutical industry.

In February 2014 Judith Wackerlig joined the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry as a Senior Lecturer for chemical and instrumental analytics. Since September 2015 she holds the position of a Senior Scientist, responsible for analytical and preparative HPLC separations and high resolution mass spectrometry.
