Thomas Seidel studied Technical Chemistry at the Vienna University of Technology where he received a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry in 2003. From 2004 until 2005 he worked as a postdoctoral research assistant of Prof. Johann Gasteiger at the Computer Chemistry Center/University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. The main topic of his research was the development of methods and algorithms to assess the synthetic accessibility of in-silico generated new compounds. After his postdoctoral stay he returned to the Vienna University of Technology and started to work on a project that aimed at the implementation of a university-wide new e-Learning platform. In 2007 he left the university and got employed by the company InteLigand GmbH where he developed cheminformatics software for pharmacophore modeling and virtual screening. Since 2014 Thomas Seidel is a PostDoc on the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and continues to pursue his main research interests in the field of chem- and pharmacoinformatics in the group of Prof. Thierry Langer.
